Pueblo County is under Stage 1 fire restrictions which prohibit the sale or use of fireworks without a permit and "outdoor smoking except inside a vehicle or stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barre of all flammable materials.
Violations of the fire restrictions can result in fines and mandatory court appearances. El Paso County is also currently under Stage 1 fire restrictions due to ongoing hot and dry weather conditions. These conditions compound the danger of using fireworks. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office would like to remind citizens that the sale, use, or possession of any firework is illegal.
The possession, sale, or use of fireworks specifically in the City of Colorado Springs is also illegal, except for novelty items like snappers and poppers.
